Wide-Eyed and Angry
Feb. 13th, 2020 10:01 pmDay one of being dead is nothing like what Ellie expected. She anticipated more floating, and a lot more endless nothingness. Intead, she has fluorescent lighting messing with her perception of day and night. With the low hum of ongoing conversations and classes she supposedly isn't ready for, she assumes it's somewhere between 7AM and 7PM.
It could be any time, if she's honest. After the drugs to induce a death-like state, everything about entering Division has been disorienting. It's put her in a sour mood, regardless of the fact that this is supposed to be some sort of a fresh start. Some part of her would rather be back in the jail cell, waiting for her transfer to a bigger, more surveilled facility. At least then she'd know what time it is.
She glares at her nails to pass the time, checking their length for the umpteenth time. The middle nail on her left hand is a little longer than her index, and the pinkie nail is crooked. She would kill for a nail file right about now.
She has never been recruited for anything before. No one has ever looked at her and said she would be good for anything, let alone anything as important as this job was made out to be. She didn't have a future out in the world, and here, she's not sure she has much of a future, either. It's too good to be true, like a lot of things in her lifetime have been made out to be.
